Los Angeles, CA will celebrate The Doors on January 4 as the band marks fifty years to the day of the release of their debut album.

“Day of The Doors” will come with a proclamation from LA City Councilmember Mike Bonin during a public event at the intersection of Pacific and Windward Avenues, the location of the “Venice” sign. Founding members Robby Krieger and John Densmore will be on hand along with family members of Ray Manzarek and Jim Morrison.

“Very apropos that The Doors are jumpstarting our 50th in Venice where we started,” said Densmore. “Our songs sprang up out of the Pacific like beautiful, edible silver fish and apparently the world took a big bite.”
