Greensky Bluegrass played a New Year’s Eve show last night in their home stage of Michigan at the Royal Oak Music Theater, welcoming guests and honoring a late icon in the process.

For the first set, Greensky came out with a flurry of originals including cuts from this year’s Shouted, Written Down & Quoted before closing out with J.J. Cale’s classic “After Midnight.”

Set two brought out the guests with Lindsey Lou and the Flatbellys joining the band for a cover of Prince’s “1999” that led into the new year. The tune would return after “Auld Lang Syne” and again following another run of originals. After tributing the past year with “Leap Year” to close the set, the band returned for the encore with “Dustbowl Overtures” and a cover of Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing.”
