Joe Russo’s Almost Dead completed their New York area New Year’s Eve run last night at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, with three sets of Grateful Dead tunes and more, plus several special guests.

The band came on stage with a horn section of Antibalas’ Stuart Bogie, Martín Perna, Ray Mason and Jordan McLean, who stayed on throughout the night, and the music got started with a first set featuring Dead favorites like “Nod Fade Away,” and “Help On the Way” into “Slipknot!” More guests joined in during set two with Nicole Atkins lending some vocals to “The Music Never Stopped” and “Dancing in the Streets.”

The final frame kicked off with a “Drums” jam that featured Red Baraat’s Sunny Jain adding percussion before the countdown to midnight began. The set closed out with a run of Almost Dead staples like “Terrapin Suite,” “St. Stephen” and “Sugar Magnolia.” The band then returned to the stage for the encore, starting with Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” with Atkins and “One More Saturday Night.”
