Yonder Mountain String Band’s New Year’s run at the Boulder Theater in Colorado saw them welcome a few special guests and dig deep into their now vast covers repertoire.

Among the highlights, a December 30 show that saw them welcome The Railsplitters’ Dusty Rider and Lauren Stovall on banjo and vocals, respectively. Rider joined the band on a cover of the Talking Heads’ “Girlfriend is Better” while Stovall sang along to the traditional tune “Rolling In My Sweet Baby’s Arms.”

Additionally, Yonder debuted a new track, “Take A Chance On Me,” marking their third newer original on the night, as “Chasing My Tail” and “Bad Taste” both also made an appearance on this evening.

Yonder welcomed in 2017 with a cover-heavy show that saw them touch on tunes like Phish’s “Scent of a Mule” as well as Ween’s “Piss Up a Rope.” They also closed their set with the Dead’s “Touch of Grey” and wrapped up the show with Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train.”
