Nolafunk is once again hosting a series of shows during New Orleans’ Jazz Fest this year, and the newest addition to the schedule is a special Foundations of Funk collaboration featuring original members of NOLA legends The Meters along with members of Widespread Panic.

The Meters rhythm section of bassist George Porter Jr. and drummer Zigaboo Modeliste will join forces with Widespread Panic guitarist Jimmy Herring and keyboardist Jojo Hermann for the event, which will take place at Republic NOLA on May 4. Pre-sale ticketing for fans on the Nolafunk email list begins tomorrow, January 11 at 11am CST, with general sales starting January 13.

Jazz Fest will run April 28–May 7 with a slew of shows and collaborations all over New Orleans. Other gigs on the Nolafunk schedule include Voodoo Dead featuring Porter Jr., Steve Kimock, Jackie Greene, Jeff Chimenti and more, Dead Feat featuring Anders Osborne, Greene and Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett of Little Feat, plus shows from North Mississippi Osborne, Twiddle, The Record Company and more.
