Red Hot Chili Peppers Welcome George Porter Jr., Trombone Shorty and Ivan Neville in New Orleans

Soon-to-be Bonnaroo headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers got into the New Orleans spirit last night during their visit to the Crescent City as the band closed their show with a rendition of “Give It Away” featuring numerous New Orleans legends.

Among them, Ivan Neville, Trombone Shorty and Rebirth Brass Band as well as George Porter Jr., who Flea introduced as “my teacher.” The song began with a brief New Orleans-inspired jam before the ensemble launched into one of their bigger hits. Watch the video above.

This isn’t the first intersection between the Peppers, Neville and Porter Jr. as the three came together at Jazz Fest last year for a performance of the same song that also incldued Zigaboo Modeliste on stage as well.
