Gov’t Mule continued their Island Exodus event with another guest-filled set that was unfortunately cut short due to weather but not before they were able to welcome many of the guests who joined them on the previous night.

Among them, an expansive “Mule” with Ron Holloway to close the first set and a run through various covers with Nicki Bluhm like Skynyrd’s “Simple Man,” The Stones’ “Wild Horses” and Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody to Love” before weather got the best of them, forcing the second set to come to a close.

Mule returned following the weather delay for more tunes including Holloway on “Birth of the Mule” and a large ensemble including Soulive, Marcus King Band’s Jack Ryan and the Island Exodus Singers and Horns for Bernie Worrell’s “Flashlight,” which they played on New Year’s Eve to honor the late musician.

The J.B.‘s “Pass the Peas” followed before an extensive closing “Mountain Jam” with Marcus King, Eric Krasno and Jack Ryan joining Mule for what would be the final song of the night as the encore was eliminated due to more weather in the area.

Island Exodus continues today.
