Joe Russo’s Almost Dead had a busy weekend, playing four days in a row in Nashville, Charleston and two in Florida for the Sunshine Music Fest in Boca Raton and St. Petersburg, welcoming guest vocalist along the way.

First off at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Russo and company brought past collaborator and Nashville resident Nicole Atkins on stage for several tunes, including a run of “The Music Never Stopped” and “Dancing in the Streets” in the first set and a “Going Down the Road Feeling Bad” for the encore.

Down in Florida, Almost Dead got vocal help from Alecia Chakour, who also played the two-city festival with headliners Tedeschi Trucks Band. In St. Petersburg, Chakour took lead on “(Turn On Your) Lovelight” before the festival shifted to Boca Raton and Chakour returned for “The Stranger (Two Souls in Communion).”

Almost Dead will take some time off the road before playing six sold-out nights at Brooklyn Bowl on March 9–11 and 16–18.
