Jim Mouradian, the bassist for blues outfit Ronnie Earl & the Broadcasters, passed away from a heart attack after the band’s show in Connecticut over the weekend.

Mouradian was with the Broadcasters since 2000 and was also an accomplished luthier who ran a guitar shop in Winchester, MA, with his son. Mouradian designed his own line of guitars and created basses for several musicians including Yes’ Chris Squire.

Ronnie Earl’s Facebook page posted the news on Sunday, called Mouradian “our dear brother Jimmy…a man we all loved who exuded compassion, joy, faith and gratitude for every person he met and every note he played.”

The page also later posted a quote from Mouradian along with a photo of him performing: “The magic of music unifies us all and lets us remember what we all have in common and allows us to forget the few small differences we may have.”
