Rich Robinson reunited with a two of his former Black Crowes bandmates Marc Ford and Sven Pipien to form The Magpie Salute, a new project that made its live debut last night in New York City at the Gramercy Theatre.

Also joining the fold were Joe Magistro, Matt Slocum, Adrien Reju and Katrine Ottosen. Eddie Harsch was also initially involved in the project before his untimely passing in November at the age of 59.

Among the highlights, a heavy lean towards Black Crowes material as well as other covers of Elton John’s “Ballad of a Well-Known Gun,” the Stones’ “Let it Loose” and Delaney and Bonnie’s “Coming Home.” Robinson peppered in numerous Crowes tunes, including an opening run through “Descending” as well as selections like “She Gave Good Sunflower,” “Soul Singing,” “Sometimes Salvation” and “Remedy,” among others.

The Magpie Salute will continue their first run together with another show at the Gramercy.
