Umphrey’s McGee brought their tour to Portland, ME’s State Theatre last night, delivering another show without guitarist Jake Cinninger but with saxophonist Joshua Redman on hand to help out for most of the night, including their planned all-improv second set.

Redman didn’t waste time in getting in on the action, joining the band after the opening number and staying throughout the first set, which included runs of UM classics like “Anchor Drops” and “Hajimemashite.” The second frame was entirely improvised by the collective, including Redman, and included several peaks and inclusions of some lyrical “Jimmy Stewart” sections.

See the full setlist below as it appears in our Box Scores section, and listen to audio of the entire show as taped by opsopcopolis (via JamBase). Umphrey’s continue their tour tonight at The Palace Theatre in Albany, NY.
