The first edition of Los Muertos Con Queso concluded last night with The String Cheese Incident performing an opening two sets before Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Dave Schools, Jeff Chimenti and Tom Hamilton returned for a final two sets.

SCI kicked off the night with a performance that saw them collaborate with Chimenti on “Outside Inside” in the second set, which emerged out of their cover of the Talking Heads’ “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody).”

Then it was time for Weir and Kreutzmann to hit the stage as they, along with Schools, Hamilton and Chimenti, took the crowd through the Grateful Dead songbook with takes on “Playing in the Band,” “Terrapin Station” and a “New Speedway Boogie” that featured Jackie Greene joining the band, one of multiple guests on the night.

Later on, Jason Crosby came out to add to “Dark Star” in the second set, following a classic opening combination of “Help On the Way” and “Slipknot!” as well as “Lost Sailor” and “Saint of Circumstance.” During the drums segment, SCI’s Michael Travis and Jason Hann helped Kreutzmann out for a jam before returning to “Dark Star.”

The night and weekend came to a close with a run through “Wharf Rat” and “Not Fade Away” before Weir serenaded the crowd with “Brokedown Palace.”
