In honor of the 50th anniversary of Summer of Love, guitar designer Tom Lieber is producing a special guitar inspired by Jerry Garcia’s famed “Tiger,” which he helped craft with Doug Irwin in the 1970s.

The guitar, which is available to purchase for a hefty price, comes complete with the signature Tiger maple finish as well as the inlay pattern and Garcia electronics package.

One of Garcia’s main guitars during the height of the Grateful Dead, Tiger made its debut in 1979 and was eventually replaced by another Irwin product, Rosebud, in 1989 before returning at the band’s final show on July 9, 1995. Following Garcia’s death in 1995, there was a dispute over the ownership of the guitar between Irwin and the Grateful Dead, with the designer ultimately regaining possession of the guitars before selling them in 2002 to Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay.

Another one of Garcia’s guitars, Wolf, will be auctioned off on March 14 to benefit the Southern Poverty Law Center. Another Irwin design, Garcia primarily utilized Wolf in the early 70s including famously appearing on the cover of his 1974 record Compliments.
