Timothy Showalter, also known as Strand of Oaks, has offered up a cover of Phish’s Farmhouse ballad “Dirt” as a part of The Lagnniappe Sessions.

Showalter writes that he “might be the newest Phish fan in the world” when introducing his cover of “Dirt.” He adds that a chance encounter at the band’s Wrigley Field shows led him to “quickly fall in love” with the quartet.

“Those two nights at Wrigley we’re some of the most genuinely fun times I’ve had in a long time,” he said. “If anyone ever has doubts about Phish, please just go to a concert. Being basically hugged by 30,000 people is hard to combat against. I needed those fans and needed those four wonderful musicians that night.”

As for the selection of “Dirt,” he notes that he chose it because it “has the same chord structure of an Oaks song” and that “its also just a beautiful melody.”

Showalter also contributed covers of Primal Scream’s “Damaged” and The Stone Roses’ “Made of Stone” to the compilation which can be streamed here.
