Jenny Scheinman has announced she will release her new album Here On Earth on March 3 via Royal Potato Family. The record features 15 instrumental tracks from the violinist and songwriter’s score for the film Kannapolis: A Moving Portrait.

The movie features archival footage of small towns from the late ’30s and early ’40s by North Carolina photographer H. Lee Waters. Scheinman connected with the footage, saying, “I grew up in a small town obsessed by ideas of self-reliance, community, and life off the grid. The folks that H. Lee Waters filmed display all the characteristics that we aspired to—poor and proud, theatrical, resilient—real toughies. It resonated with the way I want to make art. Something that feels real. Real expression.”

Here On Earth also features guest spots from Danny Barnes, Bill Frisell, Robbie Fulks and Robbie Gjersoe. The record will be available digitally on March 3, with the physical package available on April 28. Listen to two of the albums tracks below.
