After his father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Umphrey’s McGee keyboardist Joel Cummins recorded a collection of solo piano covers and more for his father to listen to, which led to a benefit concert for the Alzheimer’s Association and ensuing fundraiser behind UM’s Let Joel Setlist t-shirt. Now, Cummins is releasing that music to benefit a a good cause in his father’s name, the Jerry Cummins’ “I Love Math” Scholarship.

The album, which can be purchased here, features Cummins’ original work and improv, plus tunes from Claude Debussy, Miles Davis, Vince Guaraldi and more.

Cummins is also playing a benefit concert in late-June at Boulder, CO’s Arcana restaurant, as the keyboardist will team with Conscious Alliance to raise money for food banks nationwide. Tickets for that event are available here.
