Trey Anastasio continued his brief solo acoustic tour last night, playing the second night of the three-show Northwest run at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy, NY, the guitarist’s first stop at the venue since his February 2001 show with the Vermont Youth Orchestra. Throughout the night, Anastasio offered up more acoustic debuts of some Phish classics, an Oysterhead tune and even a cut from Phish’s Halloween “costume” album, David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust.

The night also featured some acoustic debuts from the guitarist, starting with the newer Phish tune “Shade” and continuing with the Big Boat track “Tide Turns.” The following song would mark only the second appearance of Oysterhead’s “Rubberneck Lions” in a non-Oysterhead performance (TAB played it once in 2005 with Oysterhead/Police drummer Stewart Copeland) and the first in any show since Bonnaroo 2006. Anastasio continued the first night’s thread of telling stories in between some songs, including the “Fish is Doing Something Bad” story, which came before “Kill Devil Falls.” Listen to the tale in the video below.

One of the highlights of the night came later in the set with Phish fan favorite “The Lizards,” which had never been performed by Anastasio outside of the band. The set also featured a couple repeats from the first stop on the tour including “Backwards Down the Number Line” and “Summer of ’89.” After a set-closing run of “Carini” into “Chalk Dust Torture,” Anastasio rounded out the show with an encore performance of Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust tune “Rock n Roll Suicide” and “More.”
