Trey Anastasio’s short acoustic run came to a close last night at The Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH as the Phish guitarist once again offered a unique look into the band’s catalog along with a couple surprise covers.

Among the highlights, debut acoustic versions of opening numbers “Wingsuit” and “Fee” coupled with stories about past Phish shows at the venue in 1992 (Anastasio stated that the shows took place 15 years ago before being corrected).

The show continued with Phish cuts like “Back on the Train,” “Dog Faced Boy,” “My Friend, My Friend,” “Dirt” and “46 Days” before Anastasio offered up a debut cover of Paul Simon’s “American Tune.” The song was typically found in the Dave Matthews and Friends live rotation but never performed by Anastasio himself.

Anastasio wrapped up the show and run with a couple of rarities—“Sleep Again” and “Two Versions of Me”—before lesser-played acoustic selections of “Maze,” “Gumbo” and “Ghost.” A quick run through of “Joy” and the Stones’ “Shine a Light” brought the set to a close until Anastasio returned to close the night with a three-song encore of “Bouncing Around the Room,” “Wilson” and Big Boat cut “More.” Watch a video of the show above, as shot and live streamed by Josiah Babcock.
