Strand of Oaks continued their tour this weekend with a stop at Nashville’s 3rd and Lindsley where they got some help from My Morning Jacket guitarist Carl Broemel on a few tunes during their set.

According to Go See Live Music, Broemel joined the fold after the fifth song and remained for the entirety of the show, sticking to adding pedal steel guitar to the band’s material. Broemel was a frequent guest of Strand of Oaks’ when the band opened for My Morning Jacket in 2016.

Frontman Tim Showalter told a story about the second show he ever played and drawing comparisons to My Morning Jacket. “Somebody came up to me and was like, ‘That cover was awesome,’” he said. “I was like, ‘What? I didn’t play any covers tonight.’” When the fan noted that Showalter played “that My Morning Jacket song,” he corrected them and laughed. “So, needless to say, Carl and everybody, I have continuously copied what you do for years.”
