Last night, Brooklyn’s own LCD Soundsystem kicked off their five-night run at new venue Brooklyn Steel, opening up the venue officially with a show that was packed with LCD staples and also included the debuts of three new tunes from the band.

Before fans entered the venue, they were presented with a note from the band asking all attendees to refrain from taping either the old songs (“We already made a whole movie out of those and you’re not gonna find a ‘better angle’ with your iPhone than Spike Jonze found with his camera.”) or the new ones (“It’d be a real gutpunch to all the people who have been working insanely hard for the last 18 months to release this music in the way we want to release it.”)

As Stereogum reports, the three new songs, titled “Tonight,” “Call the Police” and “American Dream,” range from pulsing beats to a more subdued feel, basically a solid continuation of what LCD have put out in the past. Frontman James Murphy also reportedly said the band’s new album is “almost done.”
