After years of controversy and delays, the long-awaited biopic on the life and legacy of legendary Queen singer Freddie Mercury will finally be released in 2018, according to the band’s guitarist Brian May, NME reports.

While May did not give a specific date for the film’s release, the guitarist discussed the actor who is taking on the lead role of Mercury, Mr. Robot‘s Rami Malek. May also noted that Queen will be touring North America with vocalist Adam Lambert this summer.

The biopic has been in the works for years, with actor Sacha Baron Cohen set to play Mercury for a time, before he and May ended the relationship due to creative differences (Cohen called May a “great musician, but not a great movie producer”).
