Todd Snider played a “solo” run at Atlanta’s City Winery over the weekend, and the singer-songwriter surprised the crowd by welcoming his Hard Working Americans rhythm section for an entire show.

Both bassist Dave Schools and drummer Duane Trucks, who also play together in Widespread Panic, joined Snider, apparently without knowing what the frontman was going to play. As Snider put it, “Figuring out what chords to play is easy. The beginning, the middle and end of the song is what they haven’t practiced or rehearsed.”

The night ended up consisting of several Snider solo originals, along with some HWA tunes and covers peppered in. See the full setlist below, along with a video of the trio playing Snider’s “Is This Thing Working” above.
