Umphrey’s McGee Bust Out Herbie Hancock Cover in Austin
Just days after breaking out The Beatles’ “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window” for the first time in four years, Umphrey’s McGee continued the cover bustout trend with the first rendition of Herbie Hancock’s “Hang Up Your Hang Ups” since July 2015.
The band returned to Stubb’s in Austin, TX for their customary 4/20 show highlighted by the Hancock bustout as well as live staples like “JaJunk” and “Plunger” anchoring the first set. The following set leaned heavily on newer songs in their rotation like “Bad Friday,” the recently revived “Crucial Taunt” and “Puppet String” as well as “Attachments.”
The encore featured a Jake Cinninger-led “Glory” into Bob Seger’s “Hollywood Nights” to close the show.
