Jason Isbell will release his new album with the 400 Unit, The Nashville Sound, on June 16, and the band has shared another track from the record, the understated love song “If We Were Vampires.”

The single, which was debuted today via NPR, is a relationship-focused acoustic number that explores the “gift” of a finite life, with Isbell’s band mate and wife Amanda Shires providing supporting harmonies. In a introductory post on his social media accounts, Isbell writes, “Quite proud of this one. I think it’s likely as good as any song I’ve written.”
