Following an Ariana Grande concert last night at Manchester Arena in the UK, an “improvised explosive device” was detonated near the entrance to the venue, killing 22 people and injuring 59 more, The New York Times reports. The bomber reportedly dies at the scene after setting off the bomb.

The tragedy, which occurred around 10:30pm local time and was quickly treated as a terrorist attack by authorities, has been since claimed by the Islamic State. Police believe the bomber carried out the plan without assistance, although one arrest of a 23-year-old man has been announced, with no further details released.

The attack was the worst in the country since the infamous 2005 “7/7” bombings on the London transit system. Prime Minister Theresa May called the incident “appalling,” and Britain’s political parties have agreed to temporarily forgo campaigning for next month’s general election out of respect for the victims.
