Monday night at the Roxy on West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip, Ziggy Marley was joined by Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream founder Jerry Greenfield for the North American launch of the Vermont company’s newest flavor, One Love, in honor of Marley’s father Bob, and coinciding with the 40th anniversary of his Exodus album. The One Love Session celebration featured a four-song set by Aaron Nigel Smith and his 1 World Chorus, with a special appearance by Ziggy and three of his younger children for a closing rendition of Bob’s “One Love.” All-you-can-eat samples of the banana-and-fudge sweet treat were provided to the invited audience, with proceeds from future sales supporting the One Love Youth Camp in Jamaica. Following the ice cream’s unveiling and performance, there was an official first-listening party of Ziggy’s “restatement” of Exodus – a newly-created version of the record utilizing alternate vocals, tracks, and mixes from the original sessions- and part of an anniversary deluxe edition of the album to be released in June.
