Ryan Adams continued his Australian tour last night in Byron Bay with a show that saw him and his band delve deep into the Cardinals songbook with the first performances of two select tracks in years.

Among them, a number of cuts from the Cardinals’ 2005 record Jacksonville City Nights including “A Kiss Before I Go,” “The End” and “Hard Way to Fall,” the first time played by Adams since 2006. The rarity was played just four times by the Cardinals in 2005 and 2006.

The Cold Roses rarity “Friends” also appeared in the show, played by Adams for the first time since 2015. The track was one of five Cold Roses songs played on the night, joining more popular tunes like the opening “Magnolia Mountain,” the title track, “Let It Ride” and the recently revived “Mockingbird.”

The final bustout of the night came with a visit to Adams’ Demolition record as “Desire” appeared in the set for the first time since 2014.
