Darkside guitarist Dave Harrington and Yeah Yeah Yeahs drummer Brian Chase will perform with the Directors at Brooklyn, NY’s Bar Lunatico this evening. The Directors are a “future pop” outfit drawn from the Antibalas community that was inspired by acts like Talking Heads, The Cars, Nirvana and the New York Dolls. The band’s lineup currently features longtime Antibalas trumpeter Jordan McLean, drummer Amir Ziv, Fela singer Sahr Ngaujah, guitarist/vocalist Ricky Quinones and Antibalas bassist Nikhil P. Yerawadekar. The outfit will release an EP this fall.

The members of Antibalas will also come together for their stripped-down “chamber Afro-beat” project Armo at Bar Lunatico on May 31. Then, McLean, Chase and Harrington will share the stage at New York’s Knockdown Center on June 9 as part of the Visuals Music & Arts Residency.
