Leftover Salmon frontman Vince Herman has confirmed a series of dates with members of David Nelson Band as Leftover Nelson. Herman first filled in for the Dave Nelson Band’s namesake at San Rafael, California’s Terrapin Crossroads while the New Riders of the Purple Sage mainstay recovered from shoulder surgery last November. Nelson has remained off the road throughout 2017 after being diagnosed with colon cancer; Bob Weir toured Alaska with his band earlier this year.

Leftover Nelson, which also features DNB members Barry Sless, Pete Sears, John Molo and Mookie Siegel, will loop through California in early June. The ensemble promise a mix of Herman originals and songs from Nelson’s catalog. As of press time, Leftover Nelson’s dates include stops at Mill Valley’s Sweetwater Music Hall (6/5), Sebastopol’s Hopmonk Tavern (6/6), Berkley’s Ashkenaz (6/7) and Felton’s Don Quixotes (6/8). Maui singer/songwriter Christina “Sweet Beets” Boyden will open the show performing tracks from her debut album, Sweet Aloha, which features Sless, Sears, Molo and Siegel.
