LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy has posted a new statement about the band’s current studio efforts, announcing that the long-awaited new album, which was promised when the band reunited last year, is finally finished.

In the post, Murphy notes that while their “totally done with the music and mixing,” there are still artwork and logistical release issues to deal with and that the earliest possible release will be in six weeks. “But it will likely be longer than that,” he writes. “Just trying to get all the ducks in a row so that there’s someone with a catcher’s mitt waiting at each stage.”

“Sorry it took so long, honestly. I didn’t think it would, but I, once again, underestimated the distractions inherent in touring and living a ‘life.’”

Murphy also notes that his DFA Studios in New York will be closing down after the building that houses it was sold, making the new LCD record the last to be created at the studio. “There’s a lot to digest for me,” Murphy writes about the studio’s closing. “I’ve been there nearly 20 years now, and I wasn’t a particularly young man when it opened, so there’s that.”
