Bruce Hornsby is currently in the midst of a multi-night run at New York’s City Winery with his band, the Noisemakers. During last night’s show, the second night of his residency, Hornsby nodded to Gregg Allman by seguing from his “On Western Skyline” into the Allman Brothers Band classic “Midnight Rider.”

Hornsby has deep relationship with the Allman Brothers Band, even opening for the Southern rock architects in the early 1990s. The piano player has sat in with the group over the years, including at their 40th anniversary shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre in 2009. More recently, he performed at Gregg Allman’s Laid Back Festival in 2015. Allman’s management has confirmed that the Laid Back Festival will continue on in its founder’s spirit.

Hornsby’s run at City Winery continues this evening.
