This weekend, Seattle will open a new part dedicated to one of its most notable sons, Jimi Hendrix. The space is located next to the city’s Northwest African American Museum.

As TeamRock.com reports, the $2.2 million effort to turn the park into a tribute to the late great musician culminated in a partial opening last year and will see its grand opening this weekend on June 17, when Hendrix’s sister and Jimi Hendrix Park Foundation director Janie L. Hendrix will open and dedicate the space.

Photos of the park, which features green space, trees and gardens coupled with a walkway timeline of Hendrix’s life and career engraved with lyrics from his songs, can be found here.

For this weekend’s grand opening, there will be free admission from noon to 5pm, musical performances, an instrument “petting zoo,” food trucks, chalk art contests and more.
