Cage the Elephant will release a new live album, Unpeeled, on July 28 via RCA. The 21-song collection takes from the band’s shows in Los Angeles, Washington, DC, Knoxville and Nashville, where they performed stripped-down versions of their songs accompanied by a string quartet and additional percussion.

Along with 18 tracks from Cage’s studio albums, including Tell Me I’m Pretty, which garnered them their first Grammy win earlier this year, Unpeeled features three re-imagined tunes, including Wreckless Eric’s “Whole Wide World,” which Cage played at their hometown show at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium. Watch a video of that performance, featured on the new live album, below.

Speaking on the impetus for Unpeeled‘s release, dynamic frontman Matt Shultz says, “Many times you’re adding sonic layers looking for something to hide behind, and what you don’t realize is that that vulnerability and that nakedness might be the most compelling and interesting thing about the song.”

Unpeeled is available for pre-order here.
