Oteil Burbridge has provided an update on the health situation of his brother and Tedeschi Trucks Band member Kofi, who suffered a heart attack and subsequently underwent emergency surgery earlier this week.

“Great news!” a post on Oteil’s Facebook page begins. “I was just able to speak with my big brother Kofi and he sounds really lucid and grateful.” Oteil goes on to thank several people, including Kofi’s TTB bandmate Derek Trucks, for being with his brother before the Burbridge family could get to him, along with the fans for their outpouring of “love and support and well wishes.”

“I dare say he’s going to be surprised at the outpouring of love. I’m thanking God that my big brother is still with us!” Oteil writes, before closing with some hope for future musical collaborations: “It’s time to get some Burbridge brothers music made!” Oteil and Kofi have collaborated on a special project recently, working in the studio last spring as part of The All Brothers Band with Soulive’s Alan and Neal Evans, a group that made its debut at last year’s Brooklyn Comes Alive.
