Bruce Hornsby’s Funhouse Fest in Williamsburg, VA was centered around a special set hosted by Hornsby that paid tribute to the music of Jerry Garcia with a slew of special guests like yMusic, Josh Kaufman, Rachael Price of Lake Street Dive and Hiss Golden Messenger, among others.

The set included takes on tunes like “Mississippi Half-Step” and “Cumberland Blues” with The Staves joining Hornsby before he took to the lead on “Black Muddy River” (Hornsby, Bon Iver and Megafaun teamed up on the track for the Day of the Dead compilation). yMusic then joined in for “Loser” while Bob Weir-collaborator Josh Kaufman, Hiss Golden Messenger’s Brad Cook and Bobby Hornsby emerged for “Brown-Eyed Women.”

The set continued with “Scarlet Begonias,” “Wharf Rat,” “Standing on the Moon” and “Lady with a Fan” before Lake Street Dive’s Rachael Price led vocals on “Morning Dew” prior to the “U.S. Blues” set closer. The band, along with The Staves and M.C. Taylor of Hiss Golden Messenger, returned to close the show with “Ripple.”

Elsewhere of note this weekend, Hornsby joined Sheryl Crow during her set for a tribute to Gregg Allman as Crow delivered “Midnight Rider” in her encore. Watch here.
