New York-based online music news source NYS Music has announced the launch of their new artist publicity and media group dubbed NYS Music 87/90 – a nod to the interstates in New York – which will focus on aiding up-and-coming artists in the state in growing their careers and fanbases.

“Every band was a local band once,” a press release announcing 87/90 reads. The company’s goal is to help create a large network of New York bands that can team together to help each other out in their various endeavors: “Together, bands are able to pool resources, collaborate on and off stage, and develop a mutually beneficial statewide music network that brings light to the next wave of bands in New York State.”

To begin with, 87/90 has announced the first batch of artists that will be under their umbrella: Boogie Low, Cousin Earth, Folkfaces, Formula 5, Gowanus, Intrepid Travelers, Let’s Be Leonard and Space Carnival. 87/90 promises to provide marketing and social media for the acts and those that will join in the future, along with sharing updates on the bands and aiding them in procuring supplemental marketing items like merchandise, photo, video and more.
