Gov’t Mule headlined Saturday night at the Great South Bay Music Festival in Patchogue, NY and welcomed out special guests Paul Nelson and G. Love for a cover of “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl” towards the end of the band’s 12-song set.

The show fell just a day before the three-year anniversary of Johnny Winter’s death and Nelson, who joined Mule for the cover, made his name as a member of Winter’s band also producing a number of his albums over the years.

Following Winter’s passing, Warren Haynes penned a remembrance of the legendary musician, saying that Winter was “an influence of every guitar player of my generation.” Haynes added, “He was one of the few guitarists who created a style of playing that everyone who came later recognizes.”
