Electric Beethoven Release Surprise New Album Maps We Found in the Ground

Reed Mathis and his improvisational “classical dance music” project Electric Beethoven have released a surprise new album, Maps We Found in the Ground.

In a post on their Facebook page, the band expressed their inspiration during Phish’s current Baker’s Dozen run at Madison Square Garden and the reminder that “live concerts can bring light and love to even the darkest of times” before announcing the album’s release. The post also features a picture of Mathis, EB keyboardist Todd Stoops and Phish drummer Jon Fishman, who attended EB’s late-night show earlier this week.

Below, listen to the new album, which was taken from a couple of Colorado shows last fall and mixed in California this past spring. Electric Beethoven play another Phish after-party this Sunday, August 6, at American Beauty near MSG starting at midnight.
