Next weekend, new NYC venue The Brooklyn Mirage will host 2 More Days of 1969, a two-day event celebrating the 48th anniversary of the legendary Woodstock festival with some of that event’s original artists and hosted by Wavy Gravy, the original emcee of Woodstock 1969.

On August 18, Woodstock co-creator Artie Kornfield will hold a discussion of his festival’s lasting legacy, followed by a screening of Michael Wadleigh’s Oscar-winning documentary Woodstock.

The following day, the Brooklyn venue will host a concert hosted by Wavy Gravy and Kornfield and featuring music from Arlo Guthrie, Leslie West performing the music of Mountain, Billy Cox & Band of Gypsys and Melanie.

“Everywhere I go I hear people crying out for something like what we did in 1969,” Kornfeld says. “While we can never duplicate Woodstock, this August 18-19, we’re going to try to come close. I’m coming home to Brooklyn for a reason – to remind today’s generation of their power. It’s time for them to step up and make themselves heard. The people are Woodstock.”
