The Avett Brothers closed out Lockn’ Festival with a set that included a collaboration with Bob Weir as the two reprised a musical history that goes back a number of years now.

The Avetts played the first twelve songs of the set by themselves before bringing Weir out for a cover of Jerry Garcia’s “Mission in the Rain” followed by their own tune “Go to Sleep.” Weir stayed out for the rest of the set that included a number of covers like George Jones’ “The Race is On,” a nod to the late Merle Haggard with his own “Mama Tried” and more Dead-related covers like “Going Down the Road Feeling Bad” and Dylan’s “When I Paint My Masterpiece” to close the set.

Weir then returned in the encore with The Avetts that included “I Know You Rider” and “I Shall Be Released” to bring the set to a close.
