The tenth annual Westport Blues, Views & BBQ Festival brought a decidedly New Orleans flavor to Connecticut over the weekend as Saturday boasted The New Orleans Suspects and Little Feat’s Paul Barrere & Fred Tackett teaming for a collaborative set of originals along with a “Dixie Chicken” closer featuring the Bonerama horns.

Elsewhere, Galactic headlined Saturday night featuring an appearance from Mean Willie Green on drums, joining Stanton Moore for a full New Orleans-style drum jam. The Bonerama horns also returned to aid Galactic during the jam.

On Sunday, Brandon Niederauer hit the stage for a “Taz & Friends” set that included Trey Anastasio Band horn section members James Casey and Natalie Cressman as well as Elise Testone on vocals and Mark Rechler on keys. Guitarist Eric McFadden emerged later to add guitar to “Whipping Post” with Niederauer. Anders Osborne then hit the stage with his band, welcoming Deep Banana Blackout’s Rob Sommerville on sax during the set.

Sunday wrapped up as Deep Banana Blackout played their home state with Niederauer, Testone and Rechler all emerging at one point during the set for “Red Hot Mama” to bring the weekend to a close.
