Gregg Allman’s Laid Back Festival, which turned into a grand tribute to the late musician, made its New Jersey stop at he PNC Bank Arts Center last night.

Bruce Springsteen was the surprise guest of the night, sitting in with Jackson Browne and E Street bandmate Stevie Van Zandt with his project Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul. Springsteen emerged to team up with Van Zandt on Southside Johnny’s “It’s Been a Long Time” as well as “Tenth Avenue Freeze Out.”

For Browne’s headlining set, the two led the band on the Eagles classic “Take It Easy,” dedicated to both the late Glenn Frey and Allman. Springsteen also performed the song shortly after Frey’s death as a tribute.

The Laid Back Festival run continues this weekend with stops in Hartford, CT and an upcoming gig in Wantagh, NY.
