A pair of headliners at this weekend’s Austin City Limits festival paid tribute to Tom Petty as both the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Killers covered songs from the iconic singer-songwriter’s vast catalog as tribute.

For their part, Red Hot Chili Peppers enlisted guitarist Josh Klinghoffer to cover his own “A Face in the Crowd” to start off their encore. Klinghoffer also offered up a poignant cover of Chris Cornell’s “Seasons” following the death of the Soundgarden frontman. Earlier in the night, the band also dedicated a cover of Funkadelic’s “What is Soul?” to Petty.

Last night, The Killers hit the stage and promptly launched into “American Girl” to open their set, marking the first time the song has been played by the Vegas rockers. Later in the night, Brandon Flowers led the crowd on “The Waiting,” another debut.
