Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit continued their six-night run at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium last night, punctuating the third night of the residency with a guest spot from the legendary John Prine and yet another nod to the late Tom Petty.

Prine, a singer-songwriter with whom Isbell has collaborated on stage in the past and for whom he has expressed great admiration, joined the younger songwriter and his wife/bandmate Amanda Shires on stage for a rendition of Prine’s “Storm Windows.” Watch a video of that performance above.

For last night’s encore, Isbell and company once again covered a Petty song, this time “Room at the Top.” Watch a video of that song below. Isbell has covered Petty in each of his first three Ryman shows so far, starting with “Refugee” night one and continuing with “You Break Me” for night two. The performances come after Isbell and his band covered two Petty tunes, “American Girl” and “Even the Losers.”

Isbell and the 400 Unit return to the Ryman stage tomorrow night with Shires taking opening duties.
