Following six sold-out shows with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead at the Brooklyn Bowl, Marco Benevento kicked off his solo tour this week in New York City with two nights at The Bowery Ballroom. As the second show came to a close, the keyboardist welcomed Ween bassist and JRAD bandmate Dave Dreiwitz to the stage for a four-song, cover-heavy encore. Dreiwitz was a steady member of Benevento’s trio for several years until he passed the position to his onetime student Karina Rykman shortly after Ween reunited last year.

Dreiwitz took over vocal duties on Instant Death’s “The Enabler” before Rykman sang her own rendition of Butthole Surfers’ “Pepper.” Benevento wrapped things up by paying tribute to Tom Petty with “You Don’t Know How It Feels” and ended with his triumphant original “At The Show.”

Marco Benevento’s solo tour with Moon Hooch continues this weekend with shows in Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Richmond, VA. You can find a full list of tour dates here.
