Following the cancellation of his Island of Light destination event, Pretty Lights aka Derek Vincent Smith has debuted a new track, “Rainbows and Waterfalls,” and revealed his plans for a four-night New Year’s run.

The new song samples Shuggie Otis’ “Strawberry Letter 23,” which has received a second life in the jam scene after Phish busted it out during their Baker’s Dozen residency. Accompanying the song, Smith released “LETTER 22,” a sci-fi western music video/short film. In a statement about the video, Smith said, “LETTER 22 is a story of the positivity that underscores all movement towards progress and enlightenment, no matter how many obstacles stand in the way.”

Pretty Lights’ New Year’s run will begin in Detroit on December 28 and 29, stop in Minneapolis on December 30 and ring in the new year in Philadelphia on December 31. The producer’s live band will feature Alvin Ford Jr. (drums), Chris Karns (turntables), Borahm Lee (keys) and Brandon Butler (keys). Pre-sale ticketing info can be found here.
