Neil Young has announced he will be opening up his archive to the public for free listening of his entire catalog on December 1, coinciding with the release of his new album with Promise of the Real, The Visitor.

In a statement on his Facebook, Young writes that his open archive will be “a place you can visit and experience every song I have ever released in the highest quality your machine will allow. It’s the way it’s supposed to be. In the beginning, everything is free.”

In other Young news, as JamBase reports, the musician will also be auctioning off many of his possessions via Julien’s Auctions. The auction, which will feature many of Young’s guitars and gear along with everything from clothing to (many) model trains to cars and much more, will take place at Julien’s Auctions Gallery in Los Angeles and online December 4–9. Those interested can view the items up for auction here and register to take part in the auction here.
