The final installment in a trilogy of albums compiling unreleased music from Jimi Hendrix, Both Sides of the Sky, is set for release on March 9 via Sony’s Legacy Recordings, in a partnership with Experience Hendrix, who also helmed the previous two records in the series, 2010’s Valleys of Neptune and 2013’s People, Hell and Angels.

The new album gathers 10 previously unreleased recordings from the guitar legend along with three other cuts and features a number of guest musicians besides Jimi Hendrix Experience members Mitch Michell and Noel Redding, including Steven Stills, Johnny Winter and Lonnie Youngblood, along with several tracks recorded with Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys collaborators, Billy Cox and Buddy Miles. The album’s songs were recorded between January 1968 and February 1970.

“Since Experience Hendrix began its restoration of the Jimi Hendrix music catalog in 1997, our goal has been to present these important recordings to Jimi’s fans in the best possible quality,” says album co-producer John McDermott. The trio of Hendrix albums are “intended to present the best and most significant unissued studio recordings remaining in the music legend’s archive,” with this latest completing the project.
