Before they move to New York’s Beacon Theatre for their annual New Year’s Eve run tonight, Gov’t Mule played the Borgata Events Center in Atlantic City, NJ, last night, welcoming several guest vocalists and musicians throughout the night.

The sit ins began with the final few songs of the first set, as Mule brought up The Better Half Singers (Machan Taylor, Mini Carlsson & , Elaine Caswell) and drummer Shawn Pelton, who plays in the Saturday Night Live house band, for “Million Miles From Yesterday” and “Sarah, Surrender.” The guests stuck around for the next two songs as well, augmented by guitarist and singer-songwriter Jackie Greene joining in for a cover of Jerry Garcia’s “Sugaree” and “32/20 Blues.”

Set two started off with another round of sit ins, as Pelton helped out on “Traveling Tune” and the title track from Mule’s most recent studio album, “Revolution Come, Revolution Go.” The Better Half Singers returned to the stage a few songs later for two tunes, “Easy Times” and “Dreams & Songs,” before Pelton lent his percussion to the set closers “Mule” and “Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home,” the latter of which also featured Greene.

Last night’s encore featured a double helping of Neil Young covers featuring Jackie Greene, as the band delivered both “Cinnamon Girl” and “Tonight’s the Night.”
