After opening set one at the Playstation Theater with “King of the World” and peppering in tracks like “Magellan” and “Crystal Ball,” The Disco Biscuits surprised hardcore fans last night by performing the classical arrangement “In the Hall of the Mountain King.”

The Edvard Grieg composition closed the Biscuits’ first set, marking its ninth performance ever, and its second appearance since 2004. The Biscuits first revived the tune during a Denver performance in November.

Set two featured a rotating “Munchkin Invasion”/“Confrontation Jam” before the band encored with a debut of Duran Duran’s hit “Rio.”

The Disco Biscuits will finish their late-night New Year’s run tonight in New York City.
